About the Course
Dependability describes an asset’s ability to deliver its intended function when the organisation needs it. An effective maintenance programme should therefore be based on functions, failure consequences and operational risks rather than fixed service intervals alone.
This course provides a practical introduction to dependability and Reliability Centred Maintenance, RCM. Participants learn methods for prioritising critical functions, analysing failures and selecting suitable maintenance tasks. The objective is safer, more cost-effective maintenance that supports the organisation’s operational goals.
This course covers
- Dependability, reliability, maintainability and availability
- Functions, performance standards and functional failures
- Failure modes, causes and consequences
- Criticality assessment and prioritisation of assets
- Choosing preventive, condition-based or corrective maintenance
- Setting tasks and intervals in the maintenance programme
- Performance indicators including MTBF, MTTR, availability and maintenance backlog
- Implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of RCM
