About the Course
A project schedule should show how activities, resources and dependencies lead to the agreed milestones. If the schedule lacks sound logic or is not updated consistently, it becomes a presentation document rather than a management tool.
This course combines planning methods with practical work in MS Project or Primavera. Participants learn to build a logical baseline schedule, record progress and assess the consequences of changes and delays. The software exercises are adapted to the application used by the organisation.
This course covers
- Breaking the project down into activities and work packages
- Dependencies, lead times, calendars and milestones
- Critical path, float and bottlenecks
- Resource planning and capacity checks
- Creating and approving the baseline schedule
- Recording progress and estimating remaining work
- Analysing variances, forecasts and alternative scenarios
